“One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.”
There is this great treasure that God has given each and every believer. In this treasure there is peace, joy, protection, power, healing, prosperity, direction, love…everything we need is in this treasure, called God’s presence. King David, the author of the Psalm above, understood this clearly. That is why he so passionately sought after the presence of God.
David was well aware that it was the presence of God that empowered him to defeat the lion, the bear and later Goliath. It was also God’s presence that was released as David played the harp for King Saul causing demons to flee from the tormented king.
Scripture tells us that the Spirit of God, the presence of God rested upon Jesus without limit. Why? Because Jesus knew how to carry the presence of God. He knew how to guard it.
That is why Jesus could raise the dead back to life, order legions to leave a man in an instant and send word of healing to the sick.
Beloved, it is possible for you to carry the presence of God in such a way that you impact everything and everyone around you much like Jesus did.
The presence of God, the Holy Spirit has no limits. He is not limited to your situation, to your city, culture or even your crisis.
It is no wonder the enemy is after our passion for the presence of God. No wonder the enemy directs our focus inward, to look at our insufficiencies, our problems, at what we have not achieved and at how hurt we are with what others have done to us.
Looking inward, looking at what was done to us, keeping our eyes fixed on our problems and on how we have been hurt will rob us of our passion for the presence of God.
Do you have discouragement in your life? Are you holding on to an offense? Be careful, dear reader! The purpose of these things in our life is to drown out the passion we have for the presence of God.
Nothing, not an offense, a crisis, a problem—nothing is worth losing the presence of God in our lives! It is the greatest treasure given to man!
We must stop looking inward, and realize that there is a world that is in desperate need of the presence of God that we carry.
As we passionately seek this presence, as we become better stewards of God’s presence in our lives, we will become so infectious to everything and everyone around us.
The people around us, situations, circumstances, cities and even nations, yes nations, cannot help but change for the glory of God, when they become infected with someone that is carrying the fullness of God’s presence.
Say this prayer:
Father, I ask you to forgive me for holding on to discouragement and offenses. This has robbed me of passionately seeking Your presence. I repent for being so inwardly focused and I ask you to help me to focus on the outward, on a world that needs Your presence. I want to infect the world with Your presence so that everyone and everything will change to reflect Your glory! In Jesus’ name. Amen!
